FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Airline Pilots Association and WestJet may have reached a tentative agreement after several weeks of negotiations.

On May 30th, WestJet announced a second collective bargaining agreement between the association and the airline in a press release.

Following a return to the bargaining table on May 29th, the agreement is now awaiting a second vote from the association’s membership.

This agreement is intended to avoid a work stoppage, as the association represents WestJet Encore pilots and previously announced a strike after two weeks of bargaining.

“The tentative agreement we have reached today provides an offer that is fair and sustainable, and better aligns with key priorities as identified by ALPA, while firmly adhering to the financial parameters that set a critical foundation in the original agreement,” Diederik Pen, President of WestJet Airlines and Group Chief Operating Officer said.

The exact date of the vote was not announced, and more details are to come.
