Azores Airlines operated its first positioning flight between Toulouse and Lisbon with its new aircraft, the Airbus A320neo (New Engine Option). The new aircraft model is part of a program to replace the Airbus A320ceo models.
The Airbus A320neo represents a significant leap in terms of operational efficiency and consequent reduction in environmental impact. The latest generation engines (High-Bypass) and aerodynamic technology (Airbus Sharklet wings) of the new Azores Airlines Airbus A320neo will allow a 20% reduction in fuel consumption, a 5% decrease in gas emissions and noise, lower operating costs, and a larger load capacity when compared to previous generations of aircraft
Teresa Gonçalves, CEO of the SATA Group, said: “It is with great excitement that we announce the latest addition to our fleet. Today, we celebrate the arrival of a truly innovative and sustainable aircraft, representing a significant milestone in our commitment to excellence and the environment.”
Gonçalves continued: “This aircraft reinforces our commitment to the efficiency and sustainability of our airline operations. By adopting state-of-the-art, more efficient, and more environmentally friendly equipment with a more ergonomic and soundproof cabin configuration, Azores Airlines wants to lead a path towards a more sustainable future in aviation and in the Azores, demonstrating our commitment to offering exceptional experiences to our passengers while we take care of our planet.”
The latest equipment of the Azorean airline has the word “PURE” written on its fuselage. This is a tribute to the Azores Archipelago and completes the rest of the fleet.
Azores Airlines’ Airbus 320neo adopted a 168-seat configuration. Inside the cabin, shades of blue from the sky and the sea of the Azores prevail, creating a chromatic universe that is transversal for the SATA Azores Airlines brand. The cabin was customized with every detail in mind, from the seats to the bulkheads that separate the different areas. To make the environment even more welcoming, a lighting and cabin sound scheme were carefully studied to bring a little of the pulse of the Azores into the airplanes that fly under the SATA Group brand.
The new Azores Airlines “PURE” aircraft with registration CS-TSK will be part of the airline’s operation as soon as the necessary formalities are completed.
