Chennai: Sleuths from the cybercrime wing of city police arrested a 27-year-old man from Thiruvaiyaru in Thanjavur district on charges of sending a hoax bomb threat to a Chennai-Mumbai IndiGo airlines flight last Tuesday. Police said that the accused posted the threat message on the customer care chat window of the airline’s website in the name of his former neighbor in Perambur, to take revenge against him.
Around 8.45 am on June 18, the customer service center of IndiGo airlines at Perumbakkam received a message which warned of a bomb placed on a Chennai-Mumbai flight.
After the threat was found to be a hoax, the airline management filed a complaint. Police traced the sender of the message to Thanjavur district.
A police team arrested V Prasanna, 27, and seized his phone and other electronic gadgets. Police said that the accused is a B.Com graduate and is unemployed.
“The accused wanted to take revenge on his neighbor due to previous enmity,” an officer said. Prasanna was produced before a magistrate and remanded to judicial custody
