Allegiant Air is one of the most punctual low-cost carriers in the world. This carrier doesn’t even compete with other airlines on 85 percent of its routes. The airline is currently waiting for the debut of its Boeing 737 Max-8 200. Allegiant also built the Sunseeker resort, costing over 720 million. This was dubbed to be one of the craziest things that the airline did. But if you knew that the airline charges $5 if you fail to print your boarding pass, you might feel that building the resort wasn’t as crazy as it is thought to be.

Top 5: These Are Allegiant Air’s Longest US Domestic Routes
Allegiant’s longest domestic flights are around 2,000 miles with the flight time taking around 4 hours and 30 minutes.
The airline has a range of such fees that can seem to be disproportionate for a lot of travelers. If you are not aware of these fees, you might end up paying double the base fare advertised by the airline. So it is important for one to know about the various airfare bundles of this carrier based in the US. Unlike the other fees the airline charges, such as for carry-on bags and checked bags, the fare bundles are fairly straightforward. Let’s take a look at Allegiant’s airfare bundles in some detail.

Some costs that Allegiant’s fare bundles can cover
Navigating through what’s included and what’s not included on Allegiant’s fare can be quite tough for some. And given that the fares for checked bags and carry-on bags can be different depending upon when you pay for them, people have said that they find Allegiant’s fare maze-like.
Price for | At the airport | pre-departure | At the time of booking |
---|---|---|---|
Checked bags | $50 | $45 | $18-41 |
Carry-on bags | $50 | $45 | $18-30 |

The price you pay for checked bags, as well as carry-on bags, depends upon the route flown. If you have a round-trip ticket for Allegiant and choose to pay for checked bags at the airport each time, this would cost you $200. This can be almost double the airfare itself.
Allegiant, like many carriers these days, also has charges for seat selection. This can range from $0-$80, depending upon various factors such as the route you are taking, the seat you are looking for, the time you decide to book the ticket, etc. The airline also stipulates that seat selection must be purchased at the time of booking.
Other fees associated with traveling on Allegiant
- Cancelation fees are charged $25 per segment, amounting to $50 for a round-trip fare. (The cancelation fee was brought down from $75 during Covid-19)
- $2-$7 for food and beverage
- $14.99 per segment while booking your flights on the phone
- Pet fee of $100 per segment. Pets are allowed in soft-sided carriers.
- Priority Access: $4-$12, giving you access to priority boarding.
What exactly does the bundle fare cover?
Allegiant has three bundle fares: Allegiant Basic, Allegiant Bonus, and Allegiant Total. There are different luggage allowances and seat selections in each of these bundle fares. While only one personal item and a carry-on bag are allowed on Allegiant Basic, the Allegiant Bonus includes the following:
- A checked bag or a carry-on bag (the choice of the bag depends upon the type of flight)
- Seat selection

Allegiant Total, however, has the following on offer:
- Priority boarding
- A carry-on bag
- One personal item
- A checked bag
All bundle classes of Allegiant except the Allegiant Basic include Trip Flex, which gives you a chance to cancel or change your flights without paying for it.
The cost behind Allegiant’s bundle and how much you save
Allegiant “bundles” collectively pay for several of these fees. And that, too, at a discounted rate. Here’s a breakdown of Allegiant’s fare for a round-trip flight.
- Seat selection: $40 (assuming a seat selection fee of $20 on a round-trip)
- Baggage fee: $90 (assuming you are paying pre-departure)
In such a case, paying for the services above would add $130 to the total fare. The price might even be higher depending on whether you will have carry-on luggage or not. But if you choose a bundle, the price of your round-trip flight might be reduced, depending upon whether you choose Allegiant Bonus or Allegiant Total.
However, there’s no predictive way of knowing whether (and when) the bundles will give you the best results. Allegiant Bonus and Allegiant Total cover fees such as the one for a change or a cancelation, but one might not cancel or change their flights anyhow.

What you need to do is check the overall cost (of your checked baggage, carry-on bags, etc.) of traveling on Allegiant and compare them with the savings offered on its airfare bundles.

All in all
There’s no specific answer about how much you can save with Allegiant Basic or the Allegiant Total. It all depends upon factors such as whether you are flying with or without luggage or a carry-on bag, how likely you are to cancel your flights, or whether you want to be seated in a specific seat.
