The flag carrier of Canada is celebrating the 40th anniversary of its Aeroplan loyalty program with a series of giveaways, including 40 lucky frequent flyers receiving 1 million points each. In addition, the Star Alliance carrier is offering ten days of exclusive deals and prizes for its 8 million+ Aeroplan members over the coming days.

How to enter

The promotion is available for all Air Canada’s Aeroplan frequent flyer program members. To enter, applicants must register on the special landing page organized for the Air Canada celebrations. To be eligible for the grand prize, registrants must complete the form by Wednesday, July 17th.

Although the exact value of the prize varies, redemptions begin at 6,000 points for one-way short-haul flights and can be used for award flights with 45+ airline partners to more than 1,300+ global destinations. Air Canada estimates that one million Aeroplan points are worth CA $30,000 (USD 22,000). Eligible Aeroplan Elite Status Members in good standing who enter will automatically receive one additional entry.

Eligible participants can enter the contest by mailing a fifty-word essay (in English or French) about how they have enjoyed rewards with the Aeroplan program over the years, along with their Aeroplan number, to the address listed at the bottom of the contest webpage.

What else can you win?

In addition to 40 lucky grand prize winners, various earning opportunities and prizes are available to all Aeroplan members. Between now and July 17th, the carrier offers a list of ways to earn bonus points and save on travel.

  • 20% back in points when redeeming 20,000 points or more on hotel stays, car rentals, gift cards, and merchandise
  • 40% bonus points on eligible flights and vacation packages
  • 4,000 bonus points on sun or weekend flight passes
  • 40 bonus points for every eligible Uber ride and eligible Uber Eats transaction
  • 40 points for every 30L of gas in a single transaction at Parkland’s participating Ultramar, Chevron, Pioneer, and Fas Gas stations, or for every eligible spent of $10 in a single transaction at participating On the Run or Marché Express locations
  • Earn 10X points on eligible Aeroplan eStore purchases from top retailers like Dyson, Gap, Lululemon, Sephora, and Wayfair

Additional perks are also available for those who hold an Aeroplan credit card. In addition to the standard benefits, cardholders who book an eligible round trip or two one-way trips during the promotion get a bonus of 400 Status Qualifying Miles.
