King Fahd International Airport
(DMM) is a gigantic airport. It was named after its former king, Fahd ibn Abdulaziz, and currently serves 10 million passengers each year. This airport is larger than the country it is a neighbour to – Bahrain – and its area is equal to the five boroughs of New York City.
According to data from “Cirium, an aviation analytics company“, there are over twenty carriers that offer 60 or more operations to and from DMM. The airline that offers the highest number of flights to and from DMM is the one which the airport serves as a base. Let’s take a closer look at the top airlines that serve DMM.
Less than 100 operations
Out of airlines having fewer than 100 operations to and from Dammam King Fahd International Airport (DMM), Air Cairo has the largest number of operations. In the 95 flights this Egyptian carrier has, it offers close to 20 million Available Seat Miles (ASMs). Air Cairo operates to Sohag (HMB) from this airport.

Prominent carriers such as Etihad and Emirates offer 178 and 194 operations each, respectively, to and from DMM in September. Let’s take a look at the details of these operations:
- Emirates is operating its Boeing 777-300ERs on the nearly 1-hour, 25-minute DMM-Dubai (DXB) route.
- Etihad is operating its Airbus A320’s on the near 1-hour, 20-minute flight on the DMM-Abu Dhabi (AUH) route [according to flightroutes.com].
Egypt Air (MS) and Air Arabia (G9) are tied at 196 operations each, though the number of seats on MS are far higher. Also, MS offers 44 million ASMs for its operations to and from DMM in September. This is almost five times greater than the ASMs on Etihad and almost double the ASMs on Emirates and Air Arabia.
From 200 to 1000 flights
There are three airlines that have exactly 240 operations each to and from DMM. These are:
- Fly Dubai (FZ), which competes with Emirates on the DMM – Dubai (DXB) route. While FZ operates the Boeing 737MAX 8, Emirates uses its Boeing 777-300ERs on this route.
- Gulf Air (GF), which operates its Airbus A320, Airbus A321s and Airbus A320neo on a forty-minute flight between DMM and Bahrain (BAH).
- Qatar Airways (QR), the sole operator conducting direct flights between DMM and Doha (DOH). The carrier uses its Airbus A350s and A320s on this route.
FZ has over 41,000 seats to and from DMM in September and offers over 14 million ASMs. Although QR offers more than 54,000 seats, the ASMs are half of those offered on FZ’s flights.
