Passengers on board a Spirit Airlines flight from Dallas to Los Angeles were shocked to find an unaccompanied and unwanted traveler was sitting right above their heads.

One eagle-eyed customer noticed a pair of tiny claws and a tail in the ceiling’s lighting panel of the airbus A320 aircraft, which houses essential electric wiring.

It was a case if blink and you miss it as the rodent appeared to quickly scuttle away seconds after it was noticed by the passenger sitting towards the rear of the aircraft on the three hour long flight to the west coast. 

Footage of the shocking incident showing the silhouette moving inside was captured on cellphone video and posted to social media where it has received more than 2 million views, together with some amusing comments.

‘Y’all seen Snakes on a Plane. This is raccoons in the frame,’ joked one user.

‘Ratotuille switched careers I see,’ quipped another.

‘Rocky Raccoon headed to LA to be a STAR! He’ll probably be waiting tables at Chucky Cheese next week!’ added a third.

‘Mice in airplanes is extremely dangerous because they chew wires. If you ever see that, tell the flight crew immediately,’ wrote another concerned viewer.

‘Somebody would have had to tell me what’s up there, we’re not about to just keep flying while something is crawling on top of my head,’ read one Instagram comment.

It’s not known which specific flight the spine-tingling scene was spotted.

The airline responded to the unsettling footage in a statement: ‘We are aware of the video and are taking steps to address this matter,’ Spirit Airlines said.
