Air India and Singapore Airlines have announced a significant expansion of their codeshare agreement, adding 51 new destinations to their network. This move, effective from October 27, 2024, includes 11 new domestic destinations in India and 40 international destinations, marking the first major expansion of their codeshare arrangements since 2010.

The enhanced partnership will quadruple the joint weekly scheduled services between India and Singapore, increasing from 14 to 56 flights. The new codeshare services will connect Singapore with Bengaluru and Chennai, and will also include domestic routes within India. For instance, Singapore Airlines will codeshare on Air India’s domestic flights from Delhi to Amritsar, Bengaluru, Coimbatore, Lucknow, and Varanasi, and from Mumbai to Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bengaluru, Coimbatore, Goa, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, and Thiruvananthapuram, among others.

Air India customers will gain access to 29 destinations across Singapore Airlines’ network, including cities in Australia, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, and Vietnam. Conversely, Singapore Airlines passengers will be able to connect to Air India’s international services from Bengaluru, Delhi, and Mumbai to 12 destinations across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, such as Copenhagen, Paris, Frankfurt, Milan, Nairobi, Jeddah, Riyadh, and London.

Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial Officer of Air India, emphasized the airline’s commitment to expanding customer choice and global connectivity. He highlighted that the partnership will strengthen Air India’s presence across South East Asia, the Far East, and Australasia.

Lee Lik Hsin, Chief Commercial Officer of Singapore Airlines, underscored the strategic importance of incorporating Air India’s domestic network, positioning India as a key market for the Singapore Airlines Group. The expansion is seen as a step towards meeting the high demand for air travel between India and Singapore and contributing to the growth of both aviation markets.

The codeshare flights will be made available for sale through both airlines’ booking platforms and via travel agents and online travel agencies (OTAs) once regulatory approvals are obtained).
