Air India and Singapore Airlines will significantly expand their codeshare agreement to include 51 new destinations across Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

The expansion marks the largest update to the airlines’ codeshare arrangements since 2010.

From October 27, both carriers will share codes on flights between Singapore and the Indian cities of Bengaluru and Chennai.

Air India Chief Commercial Officer Nipun Aggarwal highlighted the partnership’s benefits.

“We are excited to offer our guests greater connectivity to destinations across South East Asia, the Far East, and Australasia,” Aggarwal said.

Singapore Airlines will add codes to Air India’s domestic flights connecting 11 Indian cities.

Air India customers will gain access to 29 destinations across Singapore Airlines’ network.

Singapore Airlines’ Chief Commercial Officer Lee Lik Hsin said the agreement reflected strong collaboration between the carriers.

“Adding Air India’s domestic network to our codeshare arrangements will also offer our customers enhanced connectivity and convenience in India,” Lee said.

The expanded agreement awaits regulatory approval.

Weekly codeshare services between the two countries will increase from 14 to 56 flights.

Both airlines plan to progressively include additional destinations in their networks.
