Challenge Group has appointed Udi Sharon as the chief executive of Challenge Airlines IL.

In his new role, Sharon will lead all company activities in Israel. He will also join the senior executive management team of Challenge Group.

Sharon brings experience in business and managing organisations within the global and Israeli logistics sectors, alongside extensive professional knowledge in airfreight and global supply chain management.

Yossi Shoukroun, chief executive of Challenge Group, commented: “I am delighted to welcome Udi Sharon as the CEO of our company in Israel. I am confident that in his role and as part of the Group, he will significantly contribute to optimize the company’s local and global operations, strengthening the Group’s position in both the Israeli and international markets.”

Sharon stated: “I am proud to join Challenge Group and lead Challenge Airlines IL’s operations. I believe that with our dedicated team and the Group’s global capabilities, we will continue to expand the services we offer to our customers and provide advanced and competitive logistics solutions in a dynamic and challenging market.”

Challenge Group operates its fleet of 747 and 767 freighters across three airlines: Challenge Airlines IL in Israel, Challenge Airlines BE in Belgium and Challenge Airlines MT in Malta.

Earlier this month, Challenge Group completed its Boeing 767 conversion programme with the deployment of two newly converted 767-300 freighters.

The Group now has four 767-300BDSF aircraft in its fleet and operates a total of 10 aircraft.

The Group also has a commercial division (Challenge Air Cargo), a ground handling company (Challenge Handling in Liege, Belgium), a road feeder services provider (Challenge Logistics), an aircraft and parts leasing division (Challenge Aviation) and a line maintenance provider (Challenge Technic).
