Airline technology specialist Accelya has launched a modern retailing platform that will support carriers as they transition from legacy systems.

FLX ONE has been developed to provide modular, open, cloud-native capabilities making use of latest API technology enabling airlines to integrate with more partners.

The platform has been built on Amazon Web Services (AWS) tech that powers more than 30 billion offers daily, settles over $100 billion annually, and delivers over 50% of global New Distribution Capability (NDC) volumes.

Accelya said FLX ONE “integrates seamlessly with both existing and future technologies, enabling airlines to transition from legacy systems at their own pace while retaining ownership of their retailing and technology strategy”.

The developer said airlines are able to choose FLX ONE immediately “drive value from a live, fully operational platform built for the future with Offers and Orders at its core”.

FLX ONE integrates the full suite of (Offer Order Settle Deliver) OOSD capabilities, enabling airlines to create relevant offers dynamically.

It also gives users the ability to manage orders in real-time to improve the flexibility and accuracy of bookings, streamline settlement processes, and deliver a more seamless passenger airport experience.

Sam Gilliland, chief executive of Accelya, said: “We are delighted to announce the launch of FLX ONE, a proven and future-ready platform that gives airlines full control of their retailing.

“FLX ONE is fully open and API-driven, allowing airlines to move away from legacy systems at their own pace, integrate the technologies they choose, and avoid the lock-in of other providers.”

Artificial Intelligence in the platform will analyse customer behaviours and preferences, to enable airlines to offer personalised strategies in demand forecasting, pricing, and product trends.

Airlines can integrate with their preferred technology providers, free from the constraints of vendor lock-in, said Accelya.

Open API architecture ensures compatibility with both current systems and future innovations, giving airlines flexibility to shape their retailing strategy.

FLX ONE’s Open Connect functionality has been developed to bridge modern retailing capabilities with legacy Passenger Service Systems (PSS).

Accelya said “this integration empowers airlines to upgrade at their own pace, combining the best of new technology with existing infrastructure”.

FLX ONE Delivery offers capabilities that streamline airport processes and enhance passenger satisfaction by providing a seamless check-in and boarding experience.

Airlines can use it to manage the entire OOSD journey while unlocking new revenue through personalised, real-time services.

Accelya also announced it is partnering with SITA to integrate FLX ONE Delivery with its advanced airport systems.

Gilliland said: “With FLX ONE Delivery, airlines can take full control of the passenger journey, reducing their reliance on legacy systems and ensuring a smooth, end-to-end retailing experience from booking to boarding.

“This addition makes FLX ONE a fully comprehensive OOSD solution, providing airlines with a proven, ready-to-go alternative to legacy providers, and offering the flexibility and control they need to shape their retailing strategy.”

“The rise of digital expectations among passengers, coupled with demand for more personalized travel experiences, shows the need for modern, agile and integrated systems,” said Nathalie Altwegg, senior vice president of airports at SITA.

“This partnership with Accelya marks a significant milestone in our commitment to drive the digital transformation of retailing within the aviation industry.

“By integrating technologies, we can use our deep industry expertise to drive a more efficient and passenger-centric future.

“We are empowering airlines to deliver a more personalized and seamless travel experience to passengers, setting new standards in how they serve customers and manage their operations.”

DXC Technology have been appointed as Accelya’s preferred FLX ONE systems integrator partner.

The partnership will enable airlines to efficiently integrate FLX ONE with their existing technologies for faster and more efficient return on investment.

Gilliland added: “We’re excited to partner with DXC Technology for their proven expertise, which ensures our FLX ONE platform works seamlessly with airline systems, enabling airlines to modernise quickly and confidently.”
