The art scene. The music history. The flavors. The new-look downtown. Kingston, Jamaica is hotter than ever, as travelers have begun discovering its myriad charms — and an impressive new slate of hotels all over the capital.
It’s also easier to get there — more and more airlines have been adding flights to Jamaica’s capital, in a nod to the growing demand for one of the Caribbean’s great urban destinations.
Now, Caribbean Airlines is getting into the act, too, bringing back one of its most beloved routes.
Beginning Dec. 15, the carrier will be resuming its service between Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and Kingston.
The new service will be running three times every week, with flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
The flights have already gone live, with boing now available through travel agents and on the company’s website.
The relaunch is a “direct response to our customers’ needs,” Caribbean Airlines CEO Garvin Medera told Caribbean Journal.
Prices for the new FLL-KIN flights are around $713 in Kingston, although that price goes up as you get closer to the so-called festive season.
December is shaping up to be a big month for the capital: Delta Air Lines is bringing back its route from New York to Kingston, a flight that hadn’t operated since before the pandemic.
Are you planning a vacation to Kingston? We’re fans of several hotels in the capital.
For an authentic Kingston experience, go for the Courtleigh Hotel and Suites, which recently completed a major makeover that included an impressive new pool deck. Rates from $209.
If you’re looking for something a little bit hipper, we always love staying at the S Hotel Kingston (formerly known as the Spanish Court), the sister hotel to the popular S Hotel all-inclusive resort in Montego Bay. At the Kingston outpost, you get a fun, playful vibe and a rooftop pool that’s one of the coolest spots in the city. Rates from $167 right now.
Then there’s the AC Hotel Kingston, which is the product of a unique partnership between Sandals Resorts International and Marriott, a hotel whose debut back in 2019 helped usher in the new wave of Kingston tourism. Rates from $302.
