Passengers looking for flights between the New York area and Atlanta now also have another ultra-low-cost option, with Frontier starting a new service. The airline has made some significant changes to its product offerings in recent months and continues to expand its overall network as it looks to recover from the losses in Q3.
New flight from Newark to Atlanta
Frontier Airlines
launched flights between Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) on November 4. The daily non-stop service aims to provide one more option to passengers flying from the Tri-State area to Atlanta and beyond.
Frontier noted that the flight’s frequency and timing are subject to change and has encouraged guests to check the airline’s website for additional details. Josh Flyr, vice president of network and operations design at Frontier, commented,
“We are thrilled to grow our presence at EWR with the launch of this route, connecting consumers in the Tri-State area with a daily ultra-low cost travel option to the greater Atlanta area and the many other amazing destinations Frontier serves beyond.”
Discounted fare
Continuing the trend of many airlines offering discounts on new routes, Frontier, too, is giving passengers a chance to buy tickets on the Newark-Atlanta service for as low as $29. This intro fare, however, comes with certain terms and conditions.
The airline details that this special fare must be bought by 11:59 pm Eastern time on December 15, 2024. These are also valid for travel on select days of the week, covering a time period from November 11, 2024, to January 31, 2025. While a roundtrip purchase is not required to claim the offer, a 7-day advance purchase is.
Frontier is no stranger to offering discounted fares and even goes beyond new routes to offer these benefits. Last month, the airline
announced a sale in advance of Veterans Day
. It promoted a special 50% off fares for veterans to express appreciation for their service.
The promo ended at 23:59 Eastern time on October 27, and tickets had to be for roundtrip journeys booked at least a week in advance to qualify.
Q3 loss
Frontier recently declared its Q3 results,
reporting an adjusted net loss of $11 million
. Regarding its year-on-year performance, the airline reported an adjusted net loss of $32 million during the same quarter last year.
The airline’s president, Jimmy Dempsey, noted during an earnings call that the last quarter had the slowest quarterly capacity growth rate post-pandemic. This was largely attributed to an oversupply on domestic routes. To counter this, the airline plans to reduce its Q4 capacity by 2% to 3%.

Frontier also continues to enhance its fleet, taking delivery of five Airbus A321neo aircraft in the last quarter even as its pilots revealed their intention of industrial action for better pay. Last month,
99% of the airline’s pilots voted in favor of a strike
to demand fair contracts.
This largely indicated the pilots’ intentions to put forward their case and did not necessarily mean that a strike was imminent. It remains to be seen if the airline can successfully negotiate with its pilots in the months to come.
