Beginning in May 2025, American Airlines will increase its transatlantic flights to Italy, adding new services to popular destinations Rome (FCO), Naples (NAP), and Venice (VCE) to meet the high demand for summer travel. This expansion will make American the only airline offering a nonstop route from Chicago O’Hare (ORD) to Naples, with additional flights to enhance connectivity for travelers eager to explore Italy’s renowned landmarks, beaches, and cuisine.

“With Italy continuing to be a sought-after destination for summer, American Airlines is making it easier than ever for customers to explore their favorite Italian cities,” said Brian Znotins, American’s Senior Vice President of Network and Schedule Planning. “From historic Rome to the Mediterranean beaches, our expanded network will offer more options for travelers to plan their perfect Italian getaway.”

Starting June 5, American will launch its first-ever direct flight from Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) to Venice, offering convenient one-stop connections to VCE from more than 230 North American destinations. The airline will complement this new service with existing flights from Philadelphia (PHL), providing additional travel options for passengers.

American will also increase summer service to Rome, with expanded flights from both Miami (MIA) and PHL. Originally scheduled for July, the new MIA–FCO route will now start in June to accommodate earlier summer demand. Additionally, American will add a second daily summer flight to Rome from PHL, complementing its daily year-round service.

The airline’s expanded Italian routes position it as the leading U.S. carrier to Italy for summer 2025, providing customers with more choices and flexibility for exploring the timeless attractions of Rome, the coastal beauty of Naples, and the romantic charm of Venice.
