CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – Cleveland Hopkins International Airport has released the October 2024 passenger report showing a 7.3% decrease in guests between this year and October of 2023.
According to Hopkins, the total number of guests was 848,460. They say that “outside factors” are to blame for the drop in passengers.
“Outside factors are impacting airports around the country, and seat capacity at CLE was reduced by several airlines during the month, with Spirit Airlines representing the largest decline”, the airport said in a release.
While there was the reduction in passengers, Hopkins says that the “airline load factor” (essentially how full flights are) increased from 77% to 80%, in addition to a year-to-date continual passenger increase of 4.5% since 2023.
“Despite October coming in a bit lower than anticipated, we are still gearing up for a busy holiday travel season to close out the year,” said Bryant L. Francis, C.M., Director of Port Control. “Airport staff and partners are preparing for a stress-free and memorable experience for our guests arriving in and departing from Cleveland this holiday season.”
Hopkins says the airport is still on track to see more than 10.2M passengers in 2024.
