An elderly man, 73-year-old Indian national Balasubramanian Ramesh has been slapped with seven molestation charges on Monday for molesting four women on a Singapore Airlines flight.
Balasubramanian is said to have molested one victim four times and targeted the three others once each, a report by The Straits Times said.
What has happened?
The alleged crime took place on November 18 during the United States-Singapore flight between 3:15 am and 5:50 pm .
Balasubramanian allegedly molested the first victim around 3:15 am and the second victim about five minutes later.
As per the report, Balasubramanian molested the second woman three more times between 3:30 and 6:00 am.
Around 9:30 am, he is said to have outraged the modesty of a third woman and allegedly molested a fourth woman around 5:30 pm on the same day.
What’s next?
Balasubramanian, who has been handed over molestation charges in a district court on Monday (November 25), is expected to plead guilty on December 13.
Under Singaporean law, an offender can face up to three years in prison, along with fines or caning for each count of molestation.
However, Ramesh will not face caning due to his age, as he is over 50 years old.
