Southern Africa’s travel landscape is set to improve with the launch of new and resumed regional routes, making it easier for travelers to plan multidestination itineraries. Two African airlines, Proflight Zambia and Air Tanzania, have announced significant network expansions to bolster connectivity across key tourism hotspots.
Proflight Zambia Links Cape Town to Victoria Falls
Starting December 1, Proflight Zambia will launch a direct Cape Town-Livingstone route, creating a seamless connection between South Africa’s tourism hub and Zambia’s iconic Victoria Falls. The service will operate twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays, with an additional Saturday flight available during the peak holiday season from December to early January.
“Our timing is specifically designed around the tourism experience,” said Josias Walubita, Proflight Zambia’s director of flight operations. “Passengers can leave Cape Town after breakfast and enjoy a sunset cruise at Victoria Falls the same day.”
The route not only simplifies access to Livingstone but also positions the city as a gateway to Zambia’s rich safari offerings.
Air Tanzania Resumes Dar es Salaam–Johannesburg Route
Air Tanzania will reinstate its Dar es Salaam–Johannesburg route on November 30, with five weekly flights using a Boeing 737-9 Max. The service connects Tanzania’s economic capital to South Africa’s largest city, opening up access to regional destinations like Zanzibar and Kilimanjaro, as well as long-haul routes to China, Dubai, and India.
African Airlines Boost Regional Tourism
These developments are poised to enhance Southern Africa’s appeal as a tourism destination. Livingstone offers access to world-famous attractions like Victoria Falls and Zambian safari adventures, while Dar es Salaam serves as a launchpad to Indian Ocean beaches and wildlife reserves.
With improved air connectivity, travelers can now explore the region’s diverse attractions more efficiently, making Southern Africa a prime destination for multidestination trips.
