Maldivian Airline has unveiled plans to launch flights to the United Kingdom, Italy, and Germany as part of a major expansion of its international operations. To facilitate this initiative, the airline is actively recruiting General Passenger Sales Agents (GPSAs) in these countries, with applications open until December 5.

This strategic move comes alongside Maldivian Airline’s fleet expansion, which includes the addition of its first Airbus A330-200 wide-body aircraft. The new aircraft, boasting a seating capacity of 268, is expected to arrive in the Maldives next month. Passenger services are scheduled to begin early next year, marking a significant step in fulfilling President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s pledge to enhance the country’s aviation capabilities.

The introduction of wide-body aircraft will enable Maldivian Airline to establish a strong presence in the European market, diversifying its routes and supporting the Maldives’ thriving tourism sector. This expansion is anticipated to drive economic growth, benefiting local businesses and creating new opportunities across the nation.

Currently, Maldivian Airline operates international routes to three cities in India and to Dhaka, Bangladesh. The addition of European destinations will represent a transformative milestone for the airline as it seeks to solidify its global footprint.

The government views this expansion as a critical investment in the nation’s tourism-driven economy. By opening doors to European travelers, Maldivian Airline aims to strengthen its position as a regional aviation leader while fostering economic development and supporting tourism goals.
