British Airways announced that it is adding three new Italian flight routes for the summer of 2025, strengthening its network in Italy.
Starting May 2025, the UK flag carrier will introduce new flights to Rimini’s Federico Fellini International Airport (RMI) on the Adriatic Coast from London-Heathrow Airport (LHR), and Salerno Costa d’Amalfi Airport (QSR) on the Amalfi Coast from London-Gatwick Airport (LGW).
In addition, a new service from London-City Airport (LCY) to Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport (OLB) in Sardinia will complement existing flights from Heathrow.
The new routes will bring the total number of Italian destinations served by British Airways to 19, more than any other European country in the airline’s network.
“Italy continues to prove hugely popular with our customers, which is why it’s our biggest European destination, and second globally behind the US,” Neil Chernoff, British Airways’ Chief Planning and Strategy Officer said in a statement.
“Last month, we saw a 10% increase in searches for summer flights to Italy compared to 2023, so we’re pleased to be offering an even bigger choice of destinations next year. Rimini, Salerno and Olbia are all coastal destinations, so we expect them to be particularly popular with our leisure customers seeking sun, sea, and of course Italy’s fantastic food,” Chernoff added.
Flights to Rimini will begin on May 15, 2025, operating three times per week every Monday, Thursday and Saturday.
British Airways’ Gatwick-based subsidiary, BA Euroflyer, will operate three flights per week to Salerno in the Campania Region from May 22, 2025 every Monday, Thursday and Saturday.
British Airways passengers will be able to choose from either London-City or Heathrow to fly to Olbia in Sardinia. British Airways’ London-City-based subsidiary, BA Cityflyer, will add a weekly service from May 25, 2025, increasing to a twice weekly service from July 16, 2025 on Wednesdays and Sundays.
