The renewed codeshare agreement will see Malaysia Airlines introducing its MH flgiht code on the Tashkent-Kuala Lumpur route operated by Uzbekistan Airways, marking its entry into Central Asia. Uzbekistan Airways mainly operates the seven-hour flight using an Airbus A321neo but recently has flown between Kuala Lumpur International (KUL) and Tashkent International (TAS) with a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner.

Under the codeshare, Malaysia Airlines passengers are directly linked to Central Asia, further expanding and enriching the airline’s global network. At the same time, Uzbekistan Airlines is expanding its international reach by placing its HY flight code on selected routes operated by Malaysia Airlines, including convenient access to popular resort destinations such as Langkawi and Kota Kinabalu via Kuala Lumpur.

On Friday, Malaysia Airlines flight MH184 departed Kuala Lumpur International (KUL) at 22:11 and, after a 3:19-hour flight, landed in Kolkata at 23:00. The flight was operated with a 2023 Boeing 737 MAX 8, registration 9M-MVB and MSN 66440, that left Kolkata at 00:28 on Saturday and arrived at KUL at 06:32.
The route opened to strong demand as the inaugural flight left Kuala Lumpur with a passenger load factor of 93% and returned from India with a load factor of 91%. Malaysia Airlines has configured its 737 MAX 8s in a two-class layout of 174 seats, including 12 in business and 162 in economy.

The data shows that Malaysia Airlines has five 737 MAX 8s, three more on order, and 42 737-800s. The MAX is the aircraft of choice on the route, but there are some flights when the 737-800 takes over, and with the same seat configuration, it is an easy switch.
