Turkish Airlines
is the latest airline to be added to the growing list of air carriers that will operate from the new Terminal One at New York John F. Kennedy International Airport
. Turkish Airlines operations will transition when the new terminal opens in 2026. The airline currently operates from JFK’s Terminal 1, so this is not necessarily a terminal change for the carrier, rather it is a commitment to the future of Terminal 1 and a transition in step with the airport’s new plans. Additionally, Turkish Airlines will open a new luxurious lounge in JFK’s new Terminal One.
Turkish Airlines commitment to the New Terminal One
Turkish Airlines currently operates 19 weekly flights from JFK to Istanbul and sees the airport as one of its more important destinations. The New Terminal One Chief Executive Officer Jennifer Aument remarked:
“We are thrilled to welcome Turkish Airlines to the New Terminal One at JFK, where their commitment to world-class customer service aligns perfectly with our mission to provide an unparalleled customer experience.”
In addition to moving its operations into the new terminal, Turkish Airlines plans to open a new, luxurious 11,000-square-foot lounge that will provide customers direct access to the airline’s boarding gates. This facility will be twice the size of the current lounge and demonstrates the airline’s commitment to improving its already stellar customer service at the airport.
The New Terminal One project at JFK
JFK’s Terminal 1 has been pivotal to international airline operations to and from the New York area for a long time. , EVA Air
, Korean Air
, Lufthansa
, Royal Air Maroc
, Saudia
, SWISS
, and TAP Air Portugal

New York JFK New Terminal One Home For Philippine Airlines
New York JFK International has released images of its New Terminal One, which will be the new US home for Philippine airlines.
The New Terminal One is a $19 billion modernization plan that is integral to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s transformation of JFK Airport. The goal is to build a world-class gateway that sets JFK as one of the leading airports in the world. The new Terminal 1 is planned as a multi-phase project that will be built on the sites of the current Terminal 1 as well as the sites of the former Terminal 2 and Terminal 3. The first phase of this project will see the introduction of new arrivals and departure halls along with fourteen new gates in 2026.
The aim of this plan is to improve the passenger experience at the airport. Artist renderings of the new facility depict open, airy spaces that provide a relaxing atmosphere for the traveling public as well as numerous shops and amenities. In addition to the new terminal building, the road network to and from the airport will be entirely reworked to improve the efficiency and access of ground transportation.
An integral part of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s JFK redevelopment plan is community outreach and ensuring the airport is a good neighbor to the communities that host it. According to A New JFK, some of these initiatives include a sustainability summer camp, a girls in aviation day, and a summer internship program.
“The JFK Redevelopment Program (JFKR) has assembled a Community Outreach Team that serves as a touchpoint for the community to be actively engaged in the redevelopment program as well as obtain project information and explore job and business opportunities.”
