MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) — On one of the busiest travel days of the year, there was a bit of unwanted and unexpected stress for American Airlines passengers trying to reach their holiday destinations.
A technical issue resulted in a brief nationwide ground stop of American Airlines flights early Tuesday morning. The problem was fixed and the ground stop lifted about an hour later.
Still, about 1,500 American flights were delayed and a few dozen canceled. We caught up with one passenger at Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport taking the minor delays in stride.
“It looks like I’m delayed by like a half an hour, but I’m in a much better place than I was this morning when I first saw the news,” said Dan Bruneau. “I was like oh, I’m not getting home today, but it’s not a problem.”
The TSA expects to screen nearly 40 million passengers from Dec. 19 through Jan. 2, a 6% increase from a year ago.
